The Price of Choice
It's being reported today that Indian officals estimate that 7,000 girl babies "disappear" each day across India. Why? Ultra sound technology allows Indian parents to learn the gender of their unborn children; the law allows them to abort "unwanted" females.
Indian sociologists have expressed "concern" over the social impact of this pattern of abortions.
Not to mention the cost to our collective souls.............

Apparently one lab claims to be able to determine the sex of a woman's fetus as early as 5 weeks of pregnancy.

So now we have the same "concerns". A boy/girl? Not good enough! It boggles my mind when 7% of Americans can't have children at all and others are deciding that the one they have been "blessed" with is not good enough because it doesn't have a penis. Whatever.
As if the value of a child were dependent on its sex.
Of course, as long as women are not valued as much as men are, this problem will continue. Religions and social institutions that devalue women only contribute to the problem.
